I think this made it in just under the wire for the "weird animal resistance stories of 2007" roundup: a 75 year old man was treated for non-life threatening injuries after he was bucked off and trampled while riding his pet buffalo.

Generally if someone has a ranch the word "pet" doesn't apply to buffalo (though to be honest, I'm not sure when or where the phrase "pet buffalo" comes up regularly), but the story seemed too odd not to share.
