Wow, I can't even remember the last time I had a cheese sandwich, let alone felt the urge to kill over one. Still, some people haven't seen the light and changed their ways, and Juan P. Jaimes has been killed, allegedly in a fight over a cheese sandwich with his cousin. Um, in prison.

Sure, the story's a bit absurd on some levels, but it does open the discussion for another absurdity: why is it so hard to get a vegan meal in prison? I think there's data out there that suggests it would make people more peaceful in the long term, and in the short term don't give me crap about how it would upset the prisoners. It's prison. And hey, the only thing more absurd than a story about murder over a cheese sandwich would be one about killing for tofu.
